Contract services laboratories have requirements above and beyond those of typical testing and research laboratories. Among other unique requirements, they need their LIMS to support external users, and include some accounting and contact management functionality.
To address the needs of contract services labs, LabVantage's Sapphire™ features the ability to create complex quotation and pricing schemes with volume discounts and one-time charges. The system can automatically generate invoices, provide snapshot views of such parameters as "work performed to date," and support tax plans and currency conversions.
Also, Sapphire™ can be configured to include a fully integrated Contact Management/ Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system designed for commercial laboratories. The basis for integration are the powerful relational database engines that Sapphire™ support: Oracle and MS SQL Server. It can associate customer locations, people, and special testing, while maintaining reporting and notification requirements, as well as tracking calls and customer interactions.
To provide customer and collaborator access, Sapphire™ enables users external to the lab to register samples, check testing status, and obtain results over the Internet, in the same secure and controlled environment as the banking industry. In addition, Sapphire™'s flexible technology framework supports the consolidation of multiple locations into a single enterprise for maximum traceability.
Sapphire™ supports 21 CFR Part 11 and other key regulatory requirements requiring compliance in electronic records, electronic signatures, security and audit trail. It links to ERP/MRP/SCE systems to receive sample/test schedules according to production requirements, including work-order and batch identification with barcode tracking.
